The 30-year-old injured himself on Saturday while fielding to dismiss Alex Carey, with Iyer holding his abdomen and showing discomfort after tumbling onto the SCG turf.
Scans have revealed a laceration injury to the spleen. He is under medical care, in stable condition, and showing improvement.

Following on-field treatment, the player did not return in the game, which India secured victory by a significant margin. Australia had already won the tournament with earlier victories in the initial games played in Western and South Australian cities.
